In the picture above, you’ll see Living Dead Dolls’ Frozen Charlotte. On the left, the original from their 12th series. On the right, the new Resurrection variant.
So far, our other LDD/Mezco reviews have been on franchise characters Catwoman and The Nun. This time, it is one of their originals.
As collectors of Living Dead Dolls, this is a special one for my wife and myself, as the original version is the very first LDD we ever got, which created our obsession with collecting them. All these years later, seeing this new Resurrection was an absolute delight.
While staying true to her predecessor, this new take gives us a few new features to enjoy. The original has kind of the standard head mold, showcasing a somewhat happy face. Well if you read her Death Certificate, (their traditional dolls each come with their own unique story) you know that she was trapped under the ice. Not a very happy occurrence. Her new face, features that tragedy.
Sticking with the head portion, one of the really ‘cool’ things about her face is how stark white it is with what can only be described as cracks in the ice. Freezing to the point of her face cracking just like the ice she fell through. The new one has similar markings but making them just different enough.
Her hair used to be pulled back in a ponytail with bangs, while also wearing ear muffs. Resurrection got a hair cut, a slight icy blue tint and a stocking cap.
In my review for The Nun, I had mentioned that glass eyes would have made all the difference. This doll has them and I couldn’t be happier. They really accentuate the depth and the sadness of the character.
Moving on to the rest, we have a new coat and mittens. She now has leg warmers on. The original version did not, so you could see frostbite and cracks. Finishing it up, she has similar ice skates on.
This is truly a great Living Dead Doll from Mezco!
